Welcome back to my channel! Today, I'm excited to share a delicious and healthy one-pan dish featuring black rice (also known as Forbidden Rice) and salmon. This recipe is packed with flavor and nutrition, making it a fantastic meal option.
I have all my ingredients ready, including pecans that I will toast on the stovetop to keep things simple. The salmon will be seasoned with salt and pepper, and I'll be using avocado oil for cooking due to its high smoke point. I'll toast the pecans for about three minutes to enhance their nutty flavor before moving on to the salmon preparation here.
After toasting the pecans, I'll wipe the pan and partially cook the salmon. I'll then add finely minced shallots and garlic, along with fresh thyme and oregano, to create a flavorful base at this point. Next, I'll incorporate the black rice, carrots, and chicken stock, bringing the mixture to a boil and allowing it to simmer for about 30 minutes as mentioned.
Once the rice has absorbed the liquid, I'll add fresh cilantro and return the salmon to the pan to finish cooking here. After letting it sit for a few minutes, the dish will be ready to serve, showcasing the beautiful colors and aromas.
I can't wait to taste this dish! The salmon is flaky and moist, while the black rice has a nutty flavor that pairs perfectly with the spices and pecans at this moment. This one-pan meal is not only easy to prepare but also incredibly satisfying.
